What is it like to live in Bashundhara?

Bashundhara R/A is a private planned development divided into lettered blocks, with a grid of roads, mostly newer apartment buildings and a more suburban feel than central Gulshan. It is bordered by Progoti Sarani on the west and the 300 Feet Road (Purbachal Expressway) on the south, and it continues to grow eastwards, so construction is part of the landscape in some blocks.

The area is home to several universities, including North South University and Independent University, Bangladesh, which gives some roads a lively student presence. Other blocks are quieter and more family-oriented. Picking the right block matters as much as picking the right building.

Progoti Sarani links Bashundhara south towards Baridhara, Gulshan and Badda, and north towards Kuril and Airport Road. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is relatively close, and the drive is often shorter than from Gulshan, though traffic can still be heavy at the Bashundhara gates and on Progoti Sarani at peak times. Most expatriates use a car with a driver or ride-hailing apps; rickshaws are common for short trips inside the area.

What is daily life like?

Evercare Hospital Dhaka is in Bashundhara, which is a significant advantage for families. Jamuna Future Park, one of Dhaka's largest shopping malls, is next to the area on Progoti Sarani. Inside the residential area you will find supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, pharmacies and gyms, though the choice of international dining is smaller than in Gulshan or Banani.

3. Time the drive to your office through the Progoti Sarani junctions at rush hour.
4. Confirm generator coverage, water supply and gas connection.
5. For small one-bedrooms, check what is included, such as internet, cleaning and utilities.
